Kim is a native of southwest Minnesota and Sioux Falls. She attended St. Olaf College and Augustana College graduating in 1979 with a BA in Nursing.
She worked for a total of 16 years at McKennan Hospital in Pediatrics and PICU as staff RN and Associate Director of Pediatrics. For 3 years she worked at Sioux Valley Hospital in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
In 1999, she graduated from South Dakota State University with a Masters degree as a nurse practitioner. She practiced at Central Plains Clinic in Sioux Falls in Pediatrics and Acute Care until starting at Pediatrics Plus in 2001.

Kim and her husband have two children and live in Mitchell along with their three cats and a dog. She enjoys biking, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
